Lena Headey’s favourite hotels

The British actress known for Game of Thrones and fantasy film 300 reveals her top hotels:

The Soho Hotel
‘In the days when I lived overseas and would stop over in London, this was my home from home. The staff are super-lovely. Also, I like that everything is, of course, within reach here – London feels so connected that you’re always close to where you want to be. It’s easy to get anywhere – if you don’t mind squeezing onto the crowded Tube, that is.’

The Bowery Hotel
‘For me, it’s the dark, old-school rooms that truly make The Bowery. It’s also a stroll away from the Lower East Side, which is full of interesting shops and foodie finds. Everyone at this hotel is friendly and there’s a massive fireplace for cosy winter drinks. I’m not a cocktail person, but give me vodka and loads of limes and I’m good.’

Address: The Bowery Hotel, 335 Bowery, New York, NY 10003, USA

Babington House
‘This hotel is warm and beautiful – plus stylish without being intimidating – and I adore it. The beds are the kind that make you not want to leave. In fact, I don’t even venture outside the grounds. I eat, go for a wander, then enjoy one of the lovely spa treatments. When it first opened, I visited often and, in my heyday, I spent many fun, debauched weekends here. My stays are far more chilled now.’

Chateau Marmont
‘I’ve only stayed here a couple of times because, living in Los Angeles for 12 years, I rarely needed to. But I’ve had many, many dinners here. Way back, I would order the spag bol, a meaty hangover king, but now there are decent veggie and vegan options. The hotel has that special something. It’s cool and there is always a party happening – I bump into someone I know every time I go.’

Umaid Bhawan Palace
‘In 1994, at the age of 20, I flew from Yorkshire into the arms of India. It blew my mind. I’d never left home before and was terrified – then I fell in love. This hotel in Jodhpur was our home while filming parts of The Jungle Book. We were once joined by monkeys for tea and even spent the Holi festival in the gardens with the maharaja. It was magical.’

Address: Umaid Bhawan Palace, Circuit House Road, Cantt Area, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342006, India
