By the time the Rosewood Bangkok first opened its doors to welcome guests this year, it was already the talk of the town. Even in a metropolis littered with skyscrapers, the 30-story hotel’s graceful silhouette makes for a striking addition to the skyline. Two sloping, glass-encased towers join together in a design inspired by a wai, the traditional Thai greeting. It’s a subtle, but fitting tribute to both the hotel’s reverence of the local culture and gracious sense of hospitality.

“Thai spirit is infused into every aspect of the Rosewood Bangkok experience,” says Thomas Harlander, the hotel’s managing director.
That spirit extends far beyond the exterior facade. Each of the 159 rooms, suites, studios and signature “houses” with private pools has been designed to evoke the feel of the private home of an affluent, world-traveling Thai family with exquisite taste. Rich woods, rattan-inspired patterns and a stately color palette interspersed with pops of vivid turquoise or blue all imbue the hotel with a sense of place. The expertly curated art collection includes works by Preecha Thaothong, named Thailand’s National Artist of the Year 2009, and Pinaree Sanpitak, one of the country’s most respected female artists of her generation.
The hotel features four destination-worthy restaurants and bars, including Lakorn European Brasserie, an all-day dining venue featuring classic Western dishes and Thai specialties, G&O, a healthy cafe with a farm-to-table ethos, Nan Bei, a slick, upscale Chinese eatery, and Lennon’s, a speakeasy perched on the 30th floor. Finally, Sense, the hotel’s spa, consists of an entire floor dedicated to well-being. After indulging in a treatment rooted in ancient Thai holistic healing practices, guests can swim a few laps in the saltwater pool by the indoor waterfall and garden wall of tropical foliage.
“Rosewood Bangkok exemplifies a perfect marriage of destination and Rosewood’s core concept of a modern ultra-luxury hotel experience,” says Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “We are thrilled for travelers and residents to experience the warmth of Thai hospitality and the dynamism and beauty of its culture within such a fresh, exciting and radiant retreat.”
