Chiang Mai’s latest in luxury

Chiang Mai’s newest luxury hotel comes with 14 private pools set against intricate touches of traditional Lanna architecture.

If not for the impeccable cobbled driveway and stately white and green archways, you might miss the entrance to The Inside House. Built within the walls of the historic Old City, Chiang Mai’s latest five-star hotel is within walking distance of iconic temples, night markets and the city’s top attractions.

Made up of 30 rooms with 16 bedrooms and 14 suites each with private pools, it’s an oasis from the Northern Thai heat. The spacious, colonial-style suites are adorned with marble flooring, Thai wood-carved designs, plantation shutters and a sprawling bathroom complete with clawfoot tub and a view of your private plunge pool. Local touches like elephant pillows, oriental vases and bespoke tiles add to its elegant charm.

The compact grounds centre around a massive Bodhi tree as well as a large communal pool with cabanas. Restaurant Ghin, serves classic Northern Thai dishes like Tom Yam Goong for dinner and a healthy buffet along with varied menu items for breakfast.

You’ll want to be back by 4 pm for complimentary tea time, which includes a gourmet selection of sandwiches and desserts delivered to your room with coffee or signature Thai iced tea. Afterwards, take a dip in the pool and watch the sun set over the city. ◼
