Located a brisk mountain walk from the famous Three Sisters in Katoomba, Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa is one of the region’s most beloved stays, enveloping its guests in old-world elegance.
When it comes to Blue Mountains accommodation, few are as renowned as Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa. Housed in a heritage 19th-century property, this local institution has been welcoming guests since 1992 and continues to allure travellers for its luxury, sophistication and romantic ambience. Here’s all you need to know about one of the Blue Mountain’s best hotels.
Location
Lilianfels is located within the township of Katoomba, in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park.
The hotel sits on an escarpment overlooking the picturesque Jamison Valley and is only a 500-metre walk to the famous Three Sisters and Scenic World, home to the world’s steepest scenic railway, cableway and skyway that takes you over the top of the Blue Mountains with incredible views of the Three Sisters and beyond. The hotel is also a short drive to Katoomba’s restaurants and shopping.
Style and character
Housed within the heritage-listed homestead of Sir Frederick Darley, who was the sixth Chief Justice of NSW in the late 19th century, Lilianfels channels old-world elegance, set on a large property with manicured gardens.
Stepping into the restored building will transport you to yesteryear with its Wedgwood wallpaper and decorative window drapings, complete with traditional Victorian-style furniture. It oozes romance, glamour and comfort.
Facilities
The resort features an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, both heated for the cool Blue Mountains weather, as well as a sauna and spa.
There is an onsite day spa, a tennis court, a 24-hour access gym and four drinking and dining options: award-winning Darley’s Restaurant and Echoes Restaurant & Bar, as well as Orangery Restaurant and The Lounge.
Reception and concierge services are open 24 hours a day. Parking is available onsite for a daily fee.
Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa is also pet-friendly and it offers a Bring Your Own Dog package that includes a dog bed, bowl and treat for your furry friend.
Rooms
There are 89 rooms and suites at Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa. There is a deluxe room with king or twin bedding, a deluxe spa room with a corner spa in the bathroom, the more spacious grand deluxe room, executive resort view suites, which feature a separate lounge area, and resort view studios that are located within a separate building on the resort grounds and feature a separate lounge area and gas fireplace.
All rooms and suites have marbled bathrooms with full-sized baths and separate walk-in showers, APPELLES bathroom amenities, wi-fi, mini-bar, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served in the light-filled Orangery Restaurant. High tea is also served in this restaurant and in The Lounge and Bar, which features a mahogany bar and two fireplaces and is a cosy spot for drinks and bar bites.
Echoes Restaurant & Bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and serves a menu of Australian cuisine with Asian influences. The best bit though is the panoramic view over the lush green valleys and mountainous landscape from its terrace.
Darley’s Restaurant is located within the century-old homestead on the property. It’s an intimate and elegant space with two fireplaces, leadlight windows and chandeliers, a true fine dining affair featuring a two- and three-course menu of mod-Australian cuisine made with seasonal and local produce.
