Emirates to Introduce Fourth Daily Flight to South Africa

Emirates has announced plans to deepen its connections between Dubai and South Africa by introducing a fourth daily flight to Johannesburg, commencing on March 1, 2025. The additional flight will be operated using the Airbus A380, Emirates’ flagship aircraft known for its spacious cabins and advanced in-flight amenities.

With this move, the airline will provide more than 700 extra seats daily on the route. The expansion reinstates Emirates’ capacity to South Africa to pre-pandemic levels, totalling 49 weekly flights across three major South African cities: Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.

South Africa – The destination for 2025

South Africa remains a significant destination for tourists with diverse attractions—from the vibrant city life of Johannesburg and Cape Town to the natural beauty of its national parks and coastline.

The increased flight frequency is expected to bolster tourism, providing travellers with more options to explore South Africa’s offerings. Experiences such as the scenic Garden Route, the Exclusive Cheetah Trail Walking Safari at Samara Karoo Reserve, and luxurious stays in Cape Town are now more accessible. Additionally, wildlife experiences like the Sand Forest Safari at &Beyond Phinda and serene retreats at &Beyond Tengile River Lodge offer unique opportunities for visitors seeking both adventure and relaxation.

The airline enhances connectivity to numerous destinations within South Africa and the broader region through its codeshare agreements with local airlines. Via Johannesburg, passengers can connect to 12 additional destinations. The partnership with Airlink opens access to 44 regional cities, including leisure spots like Margate and Plettenberg Bay through CemAir routes. FlySafair provides routes to Port Elizabeth, East London, and George, further extending travel options. ◼
