By day you’ll spot tui, kaka and saddleback; by evening the forest shifts gears as kiwi, weta and more nocturnal locals start to stir. There’s a simple electric shuttle from the city, so getting there and back is a breeze — a relaxed favourite with our senior travellers.

- Zealandia by Day (guided): A hosted daytime walk with a knowledgeable guide and lots of time for questions and photos.
- Zealandia by Night (guided): After-dark adventure listening and looking for kiwi, glowworms and other nocturnal creatures.
- Twilight Tours (seasonal): An evening tour that bridges day into night — great for catching the dusk chorus.
- Photography Tours (seasonal): Longer, small-group sessions focused on wildlife and forest photography.
What Our Travellers Said About Zealandia
“What did I enjoy the most – a snow covered Mt Cook and a helicopter flight around the mountain range and the glaciers. The breathtaking beauty of Milford Sound and subsequent flight back to Queenstown through the mountains. Zealandia and, of course, the Maori history and culture.”
Visiting Zealandia on our free day in Wellington is super popular with our travellers — a peaceful daytime stroll followed by the thrill of listening for kiwi after dark. The local guides will look after you and tell you all about this amazing New Zealand conservation story and the gentle paths keep everything comfortable at a relaxed pace.
