First Impressions
After a busy conference week in Bali, I’m ready for a little calming me-time ahead of a flight home to Sydney. It’s already dark as I arrive, a single resonant gong announcing my arrival at REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort, Bali’s quietly luxurious wellness retreat, tucked into the hills of Nusa Dua.
Reception feels less like a lobby and more like a sanctuary. A hanging chair gently swings beside a small lily pond, and check-in is swift and seamless. Moments later, I’m guided to a canopied lounge where a cooling welcome drink awaits, before being shown around the resort , then to my own personal sanctuary for the next couple of nights
The Room

My Courtyard Room sits slightly apart from the main dining and activity areas, a retreat within the retreat. Entry is through a large, carved wooden door in a private courtyard shared by just a handful of rooms, all facing a tranquil swimming pool at the centre.
The entrance to my room is framed by walls of bamboo and an arch draped in bougainvillea. Glass double doors open into a space that is cool, minimal and deeply calming, with soft linens, natural textures and subtle Balinese design touches. A tranquil garden with a canopied lounger invites me to decompress in the warm Bali evening air. The bathroom is generous in size, with a bath overlooking the gardens and an outdoor shower that feels very much part of the experience.
A network of bamboo-lined walkways winds discreetly through the property, allowing staff and guests to move quietly between villas, treatment rooms and gardens. It all contributes to the sense that this is a place designed for tranquility, not distraction.
Dining

Meals are taken at NŪTRIŌ, an open-air dining space at the heart of REVĪVŌ. As the name suggests, this is a place focused on balanced, nourishing, wellness-driven dining, with an emphasis on fresh, organic produce and a strong plant-forward approach. Each dish is thoughtfully described, including its nutritional benefits, allowing guests to choose meals that align with their personal wellness goals.
Breakfast is hearty, yet thoughtfully calorie-controlled. It begins with a freshly squeezed juice (I opt for the ‘Energise Me’, a vibrant blend of citrus and greens), followed by a beautifully presented plate of either sweet or sour fruits (never mixed, I quickly learn). From there, it’s a choice of sweet or savoury. I choose the eggs, served with sautéed greens, avocado, and gluten-free sourdough with a generous spread of ghee. It’s satisfying without feeling heavy, a perfect start to a day of wellness.
Dinner strikes a perfect balance between wellness and indulgence. I keep it local, starting with Gado Gado, a traditional Indonesian dish of lightly steamed vegetables, tofu and tempeh, finished with a rich peanut dressing. This is followed by a mushroom rendang, with earthy mushrooms slow-cooked in a deeply spiced, aromatic sauce. ‘Soul Food’, the menu wisely notes – a perfect mood enhancer and hard to disagree with. I leave the restaurant feeling satisfied and quietly virtuous.
Returning to my room, I round out my evening with NOCTURNO, Revivo’s evening ritual – a subtle light therapy designed to gently slow everything down, preparing both body and mind for a more restful night. It works, and I sleep like a baby.
Wellness on the go
Most retreats at REVĪVŌ are designed for stays of three nights or more, and from the outset, I find myself wishing I had longer than my two nights. Fortunately, the resort offers shorter introductory experiences, including the aptly named Wellness on the Go.
This biohacking session is designed as a quick immersion into some of the therapies REVĪVŌ offers. I settle into a treatment chair on a pulsed electromagnetic therapy mat, designed to stimulate circulation and support cellular repair. Compression boots are fitted to my legs and an LED light therapy mask is placed gently over my face.
For the next 20 minutes, I drift between relaxation and curiosity as the boots rhythmically compress and release, encouraging lymphatic drainage, while the LED mask bathes my skin in therapeutic light. It’s an unusual combination that makes me laugh as I catch sight of myself in the mirror – but surprisingly calming – and I emerge feeling lighter and noticeably energised.
I’m so intrigued by the LED therapy that I find myself browsing the spa boutique afterwards, where many of the devices used in treatments are available for home use. Needless to say, I don’t leave empty-handed – an LED mask coming home with me to keep that post- REVĪVŌ glow going long after I’ve left.
The Wellness Centre

To the rear of the resort lies the Wellness Centre, featuring a gym, sauna, jacuzzi and hot and cold plunge pools, available to all guests.
I begin with a self-guided contrast therapy, alternating between hot and cold immersion, three minutes warm, one minute cold, repeated for the recommended three rounds. It’s invigorating, bracing and surprisingly addictive once you settle into the rhythm.
Each stay includes a daily movement class, MOVEO, with a rotating program led by resident experts specialising in yoga, breathwork, fitness and holistic therapies. I opt for a Yin Yoga session – a slow, deeply restorative practice focused on gentle stretching and breath, as a thunderstorm rumbles atmospherically overhead. It’s the perfect counterbalance to the stimulation of travel and life.
The Vitality Centre
REVĪVŌ’s newly introduced Vitality Centre takes the wellness offering a step further, blending holistic philosophy with modern science, whether you’re training for a marathon or simply want to live better. Here, treatments are tailored to individual goals, from stress reduction and focus to recovery and performance. After completing a short questionnaire assessing factors such as stress, sleep, energy levels (and, admittedly, my enjoyment of a glass or two of wine), I’m guided through a neuro-wellness session designed to improve focus and mental clarity.
Wearing a lightweight headband and headphones, I lie on a zero-gravity bed beneath a softly illuminated canopy while guided breathing exercises and light therapy create a deeply meditative state. Afterwards, my results are analysed and discussed, along with practical strategies I can take home to improve mindfulness and concentration in daily life.
It’s a fascinating glimpse into the future of wellness, where ancient practices and modern technology meet, and it leaves me wanting more.
Live well, longer

For those looking to go deeper, REVĪVŌ also hosts a series of immersive, results-driven retreats, including its upcoming Live Well Longer, a women’s longevity retreat. From 1–6 May 2026, this exclusive women-only experience brings together leading Australian biohackers Camilla Thompson and Azra Alagic for a multi-day programme focused on longevity and pro-ageing. The retreat blends advanced diagnostics and biohacking techniques with more traditional wellness practices – think hormone-focused sessions, daily movement and meditation, personalised coaching and nutrient-rich dining designed to support individual needs. It’s a more structured, science-led approach to wellbeing, offering a deeper reset for those ready to invest in their long-term health
The Verdict
REVĪVŌ is not just a retreat; it’s an invitation to slow down and reset. As Leo Altamar, Wellness Director at REVĪVŌ, so simply puts it, “REVĪVŌ is a hold space for inner transformation.”
Whether you’re seeking a full wellness transformation or simply a few days to recharge, the experience is both grounding and quietly luxurious. I leave wishing I had stayed longer, but also with a renewed sense of calm, a few new habits to take home, and a reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be extreme to be effective. Sometimes, it starts with a quiet garden, a deep breath, and the sound of a single gong in the night.
