The Museum of Antioquia is symbolic of Medellín’s transformation from a city in perpetual turmoil to a thriving culture hub. Renovated in 1997, the museum is one of the city’s most important institutions and is home to thousands of Colombia’s most important art treasures.

Perhaps best known for its huge collection of work by Fernando Botero (much of which was donated by the artist himself), you could spend hours just enjoying his instantly-recognizable rotund characters.

Apart from Botero, the 17-room collection includes works by other important artists, as well as artifacts from the Pre-Columbian era, colonial period, and beyond.

Monkeys at Parque de la Conservación

Parque de la Conservación is Medellín’s popular wildlife hub, located on the site of the old Santa Fe Zoo. It provides an educational experience for visitors while working on wildlife projects to protect jaguars, bears, primates and more.

Parque Explora is a home for the inquisitive. Medellín’s popular interactive science and technology museum is at the heart of the city’s innovation district, a hit with families and curious visitors alike.

The building is impossible to miss with its four giant, elevated red blocks – it’s worth a visit just to take a peek at the architecture! Through more than 300 stimulating activities, subjects like biodiversity, neuroscience, relativity, thermodynamics, and physics all come to life.
