THE OLD ADAGE THAT YOUR FIRST MEAL is the most important meal of the day may or may not be true, but there’s no denying the cozy and comforting feeling that only comes from the best hotel breakfasts. So the U.K. company Mornings.co.uk, which focuses on improving sleep habits, tried to figure out where the world we can find the top morning meals with our stay.

By looking at Tripadvisor reviews of hotels in 133 capital cities, which included the phrases “best breakfast,” “great breakfast,” and “excellent breakfast,” the study tallied up the properties with the most glowing petit dejeuner reviews “because when 5,000 people recommend a hotel breakfast, it’s probably worth the journey,” the research concluded.
Topping the global list is London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, which had 5,363 positive reviews for its breakfast — among them, reviews saying it served up “superb breakfast with so many choices” and provided “wide variety even for my fussy 10-year-old.” London is also home to the sixth favorite at Premier Inn London County Hall Hotel and the eighth-ranking spot, The Tower Hotel. The top 10 is rounded out by Italy’s four-star Hotel Artemide in second, Hungary’s Hotel Palazzo Zichy in seventh and the Sandals Royal Bahamian in ninth.
But Southeast Asia, a region where hotel breakfasts are a way of life, takes the rest of the best 10. Malaysia’s Traders Hotel, a Shangri-La property is third, Thailand’s Chatrium Hotel Riverside is fourth and Shangri-La Bangkok is fifth, and Malaysia’s Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur ranks No. 10.
Honing in on North America, the islands continue to dominate. Not far behind the Sandals Royal Bahamian, which had 3,545 positive mentions, is Cuba’s Iberostar Parque Central, and the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa. In the U.S., Hotel Mazarin in New Orleans came out on top with 3,385 compliments. The country’s top 10 included several hotels near national parks, as well as outposts in Waikiki Beach and Las Vegas.
Also rising to the top in their regions is Fierro Hotel Buenos Aires in South America, Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa Maldives in the Middle East and Central Asia, and Cairo’s The Ramses Hilton in Africa.
