Knaresborough is stunning in the Autumn, with coppers and oranges dominating the landscapes, in fact it was recently voted the number 1 town to take an Autumn break recently by the Guardian newspaper.
And if you are visiting Knaresborough a hotel with a spa is definitely the place for a short stay. Built in the 15th century the Dower House Hotel of Knaresborough has an interesting history.
It has been known by several names, three of these being ‘Lylley Hall’ in the 1500’s. ‘Bond End House’ between 1750 and 1910, and ‘the Dower House’ from approximately 1911.
The house is situated in Bond End in the area of Knaresborough known as ‘Tentergate’. In medieval times, this was the area where the bondsmen or serfs of the town lived – hence the name Bond End.
For dinner, award winning Storm restaurant is open daily to hotel guests and members of the public, booking in advance is strongly advised. Newly under the helm of Victoria Vasallo, Storm restaurant is fast becoming a must visit on the Yorkshire dining scene.
