Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music 2019

Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music will return with an eclectic and varied line-up that will keep cultural aficionados completely engaged for eight weeks from Sept 11 to Oct 23.

The 21st edition of what is the country’s longest cultural showcase will gather world-class artists and performers from 10 countries to give 13 performances in a total of 20 showtimes. All will be performed at the Thailand Cultural Centre on Ratchadaphisek Road.

Turandot

The festival will kick off with the performance of Turandot, a two-acts opera by Ekaterinburg Opera Theatre, Russia. (Sep 11)

For opera fans, catch the Rusalka, a three-acts opera by Ekaterinburg Opera Theatre, Russia (Sept 13).

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, New York, USA will perform the Swan Lake for two nights (Sept 16 and 17).

La Verità

Watch La Verità, Compagnia Finzi Pasca from Switzerland perform their breath taking acrobatics (Sept 21 and 22).

The festival will continue with the award winning Swan Lake On Ice by The Imperial Ice Stars, United Kingdom with exhilarating new choreography from leading ice director Tony Mercer. Swan Lake On Ice will take the stage for two nights (Sept 26 and 27) followed by Cinderella On Ice also for another two nights (Sept 28 and 29).

Lady Zhaojun

From China, watch multi-award winning singer, Li Yugang, celebrated as China’s National Treasure, stars as ‘Lady Zhaojun’. This theatrical musical, accompanied by 70 singers and dancers incorporates the music and dance styles of Inner Mongolia and the Han Dynasty (Oct 5 and 6).

Introdans from The Netherlands will perform the most astonishing and spectacular ballets. They will present the highlights of its vast repertoire: Polish Pieces, Ella, In Memoriam and Black Cake (Oct 11).

Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Hungary (Oct 13).

Esmeralda

Esmeralda (Notre Dame de Paris), a classical two-acts ballet by The Kremlin Ballet, Russia (Oct 15).

A Thousand And One Night, classical two-act ballet by The Kremlin Ballet, Russia (Oct 17).

Swan Lake

Swan Lake, classical two-act ballet, four scenes by The Kremlin Ballet, Russia (Oct 19).

Jose Carreras

For the finale, catch the performance of the year by JOSE CARRERAS: FAREWELL BANGKOK, SPAIN , where he will be accompanied by a world-renowned soprano Celine Byrne and an orchestra conducted by globally-acclaimed David Giménez whose extraordinary understanding of the voice has seen him perform with leading singers and orchestras like Teatro alla Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Zurich Opera among others.
