Enjoying raw food with a unique twist only Ubud could have pulled off
Ubud, in Bali’s northern region is where the lush rainforest meets volcanoes, rice paddies and yoga studios. Dotted around the central township are countless vegan and vegetarian cafes and warungs.
For a really special experience though, discover some of Ubud’s finest raw food experiences.
The raw food menu at each of these destinations is rich with food that is delivered in its natural state, neither cooked or processed but packed with flavour due to its freshness and skilled preparation. Each has ample dining room space and choice of indoors and outdoors seating.
Sayuri Healing Food offers raw lasagne, vegan sushi, salads, Buddha bowls rich with tempeh, seeds, nori flakes, hommus and crunchy fresh vegetables. The Raw Key Lime Pie is an absolute must for those with a sweet tooth. Layered with delicious meringue, it’s both creamy and zesty all in one big mouthful.
Alchemy, located further from the central township in the quieter area of Penestanan, offers the best raw pizza in Ubud. Either the mushroom and spinach or the sundried tomato with pineapple and cashew “cheese” will have you returning for more. Their raw desserts are both divinely indulgent and rich in raw fruits, cacao, nuts and seeds (therefore, guilt free and good for you).
Ubud’s food is as refreshing and colourful as its surroundings
Seeds of Life runs yoga classes, Raw Food Chef courses and sells organic coconut water and daily bottled cold-pressed juices. Their zucchini-based wraps with jicama chips are a favourite and perennially on the menu. The menu is vast, but opting for the daily special is always a good idea.
